The LOS ANGELES ELECTRIC 8 is a group of eight guitarists who bring the electric guitar to a chamber ensemble, channeling their classical backgrounds into an instrument usually reserved for rock. They rectify the electric guitar’s absence in classical music, revealing the instrument’s enormous potential in the world of art music.
CHELSEA GREEN - Recital: UCLA Doctorate of Musical Arts degree
A classical guitarist and vocalist whose special interests include expansion of the guitar repertoire through performance of new music, publication of effective transcriptions and involvement in innovative collaborations. In 2006, California Guitar Archives published her transcriptions for guitar and voice entitled "Erik Satie: Four Songs from 1886". Same year, Chelsea and two other UCLA students founded "The Bantam Ballet", combining guitar-accompanied art song, dance and multimedia design. She is an original member of "The Los Angeles Electric 8". The group often takes their program of classical music arranged or written for 8 electric guitars on tour throughout major California venues, including prisons. She is currently pursing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at UCLA, studying guitar with Dr. Peter Yates. Aside from performing, Chelsea teaches guitar throughout the Los Angeles area prepares guitar and voice transcriptions of art songs for publication and plays in the band "SuperDuperStar".
